Todd Shenk brings more than two decades of experience in philanthropy and the non-profit sector in his quest to create a more equitable, just, and thriving society. At Casey Family Programs, the nation’s largest operating foundation dedicated to improving and eliminating the need for foster care, his work is focused on strengthening the ecosystems in which families live so that they can thrive. This multi-sector approach includes partnering with philanthropic and governmental leaders, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders around the country. From 2011-2014 he served on loan from Casey Family Programs as a special assistant to the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington DC, where his role was advancing federal policy at the intersection of housing, homelessness, and child welfare. In this role, he worked on multiple national policy and program initiatives, including the Mayor’s Challenge to End Homelessness, the National Prevention Policy Working Group, the 100k Homes Campaign, and the Family Unification Voucher program.

Todd also served as a senior program officer at the Rasmuson Foundation in Anchorage, Alaska, where, in addition to holding a portfolio of grantees across the state, he helped to lead a multi-year, public-private initiative to end homelessness in Alaska.

Prior to joining Casey Family Programs in 2005, as the Director of Education for the Denali Education Center, he created programs to help connect Alaskans and visitors to interior Alaska’s natural history, culture and art. He also worked at Covenant House Alaska, serving youth experiencing homelessness and their families. Todd served homeless youth at Covenant House Alaska in Anchorage.

He was a Presidio Institute Cross Sector Leaders Fellow in 2016. Todd holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and is drawn to mountains and wild waterways
