Making the Case for Supporting Immigrants in Your Grantmaking: A Messaging Toolkit for Funders

Women reading to a small child

This Online event was held on November 20, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST

Hosted by Grantmakers Concerned With Immigrants and Refugees, co-hosted by ECFC and other Philanthropy Infrastructure Organizations

We know that funders face many challenges when attempting to make the case within their institutions for the value and importance of investing in immigrant communities. We also know that moving money to immigrant-led and immigrant-centered organizations can help foundations advance their strategic priorities, whether they relate to immigration explicitly or not.

This event launched Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) new messaging toolkit to support funders who seek to make the case for supporting immigrants in their grantmaking. The toolkit has compelling talking points linked to universal values and shared priorities, ways to address common concerns foundation leaders may raise, and concrete guidance on how to bring these messages into everyday philanthropic practice. This is the first in a series of planned toolkits from GCIR to guide and support funders who seek to make impact on immigrant justice.
