Webinar | Partnering with Policymakers and Community Members to Position Dual Language Learners for Success
This event was held on October 15, 2020

On October 15th, ECFC, Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees and Philanthropy Advocates hosted a cutting-edge discussion for funders on how to make strategic investments and restructure biased policies that affect a third of the nation’s children from birth to eight years old who are Dual Language Learners.
Featuring examples of how the funding community in Texas is partnering with policymakers and community members to increase equity in the early learning systems through a new Texas Early Childhood English Learner Initiative, the discussion provided an opportunity for attendees to:
- Hear research findings from lead policy researchers involved in this initiative including results from focus groups and extensive community surveys.
- Hear from a policy researcher from Texans Care for Children and a bilingual educator from an impacted community sharing lessons learned from the process of partnering.
- Learn more about why and how the Rainwater Charitable Foundation is engaging in this work.
Partners in the work from Philanthropy Advocates and Intercultural Development Research Association joined us to facilitate discussion.
