How Philanthropy Can Help Every Child Thrive

This event was held on March 12, 2026 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
Hosted by The Bridgespan Group, co-sponsored by ECFC.
Investing in a child’s earliest years strengthens lifelong health, learning, and economic mobility, with an impact that extends beyond to parents and entire communities. But American families today are struggling to access and afford the supports they want and need to nurture and care for their very young children. Philanthropy has a critical—and catalytic—role to play in shaping a future where all very young children and their families can thrive across race, income, and geography.
If you missed ECFC’s February 10 webinar co-hosted with The Bridgespan Group, here is your opportunity to join in or continue this discussion on how strategic early childhood investments strengthen upstream health outcomes, drawing from Bridgespan’s recently published Investing in Our Future: Critical Ways Philanthropy Can Help Every Young Child and Family Thrive (January 2026).
This session is designed especially for funders who may be giving in related issue areas or are interested in exploring early childhood more deeply, and are looking for clear, practical guidance on where philanthropy can make a difference.

Philanthropy has a critical—and catalytic—role to play in shaping a future where all young children and their families can thrive across race, income, and geography. This webinar examines how strategic investment in the earliest years of life, from pregnancy through early childhood, can have a transformative impact on immediate and long-term health outcomes (e.g., birthweight, maternal health, chronic disease prevention), as well as family economic stability, healthy relationships, and school readiness. At a time when families nationwide face escalating health care costs and costs of living, along with persistent challenges finding nurturing care for very young children, this discussion is both timely and essential. Drawing from updated research, this session will highlight actionable ways funders can invest to build durable, culturally responsive supports and solutions for families nurturing children in their earliest years.
Join this webinar to:
- Understand the latest research on how prenatal and early childhood experiences shape a broad range of outcomes.
- Explore four critical opportunities for philanthropy to drive system-level change—particularly in low-income communities, rural areas, and communities of color.
- Learn from case studies in geographies across the country that illustrate the role philanthropy can play in driving positive outcomes for young children and families.
For funders focused on related/intersectional issues, this session offers a practical look at how investing in the earliest years can:
- Advance health equity, improve long-term outcomes, and complement existing health portfolios, highlighting examples of programs and approaches that support caregiver well-being alongside children’s early development.
- Accelerate academic gains, reduce disparities, and complement existing education portfolios, highlighting examples of programs and approaches that support parents’ education alongside children’s early development.
- Strengthen economic supports for families with young children including making the case for things like child care and paid leave as economic imperatives.
