Episode 3: Toward a Climate of Care in Learning Programs
Tuesday, September 10
2-3pmpm ET | 1-2pmpm CT | 12-1pmpm MT | 11am-12pm CT | 8-9am HI
In the third episode of our Infant Nation series we will connect movements for high-quality learning environments for children and youth to the growing movement for climate justice around the world. In many educational and climate spaces, adults are failing our children. How can we come together across these issue areas to center the rights of children and youth in the U.S. and abroad?
Funders often fund in silos, but these two issues (climate risks and learning environments for children and youth) are both prominent areas where we are failing to center children in the policy arena. Our panelists will discuss areas where they see opportunities for funders to connect dots between their issue areas.
Speakers:
- Joan Lombardi, senior fellow at the Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues, Georgetown University; visiting scholar at the Stanford Center on Early Childhood, Graduate School of Education, Stanford University
- Elicia Lanier, founding Executive Director of Urban Sprouts Early Childhood Development Center, a diverse Reggio Emilia school in St. Louis focusing on early childhood education
Registration:
While other funders are invited to attend, this event is intended for Grantmakers for Education members, and other education and early childhood grantmakers. There is no cost to attend this Grantmakers for Education program.
