The Magnolia Mother’s Trust

The Magnolia Mother’s Trust (MMT) is the longest-running guaranteed income program in the United States and the first to target extremely low-income families led by Black mothers.

MMT is a guaranteed income initiative that provides low-income Black mothers in Jackson, Mississippi, $1,000 each month for 12 months—no strings attached.  Mothers have the option to participate in programming and opportunities related to goal setting, community building, mental health and self-care, and whole-family programs. Having completed six cohorts and served over 550 mothers, The Magnolia Mother’s Trust is now the longest-running guaranteed income initiative in the recent cash-without-restrictions movement.
