ECFC launched our 2022 Virtual Thursday Programming with a special professional development study opportunity designed by ECFC member, Shayna Cook from the Bainum Family Foundation. Shayna is currently a Doctoral student at American University’s School of Education, studying how early childhood education philanthropic leaders can direct funding based on the expertise and lived experience of those closest to the problems using home-based early childhood educators in the DC area as an exemplar case.

Participation in the January 27th session will contribute to the completion of Shayna’s Doctoral dissertation study as well as expand ECFC and EC funder thinking around engaging the voices of those most impacted in our work.

This research is ongoing. When the research is complete, Shayna Cook, will share an executive summary with this group and the Black women who participated in this research. Interested funders who could not join us on January 27th are welcome to get in touch with Shayna directly.  Read this Letter Inviting Participation for more information on our January 27th session and contact information to learn more about the study.
