Impact of Video and Media on Young Children with an Eye on Equity

Co-hosted with Media Impact Funders 

Guest speakers from the Georgetown University Early Learning Project, and the Youth Law Center, joined us to discuss research on video interactions between young children and grandparents; and lessons from systems and settings that rely on video interaction between kids and families even in non-pandemic times (justice facilities, foster care, military families).   As we continued to grapple with distance learning and making and keeping virtual connections with kids and families during the pandemic, we considered key takeaways around how how children can optimally learn from video / media with a focus on relationships and social emotional learning, and how we can use those lessons to keep and improve virtual connections with kids and families beyond the pandemic.
