ECFC Fall 2023 Member Meeting: Building Relationships with Indigenous Communities

Since 2021, ECFC and Native Americans in Philanthropy have convened a funder workgroup on Indigenous Early Childhood with about a dozen active foundation participants.  ECFC’s Steering Committee asked us to pursue “whole group learning” on Indigenous Early Childhood as part of our commitment to equity, in recognition of the fact that many of us have gaps in our knowledge and experience with Native communities, historical and cultural forces affecting them, and the fantastic work that they are doing with families and communities.

ECFC’s November 2023 Member Meeting sought to bring our learnings from this work to our full membership, and to engage Native early childhood leaders and communities in our meeting planning and discussions.
